Overly concise

Map-nrd

Is it really necessary to abbreviate “North Road” to “N Rd”, “East Road” to “E Rd” and “South Road” to “S Rd”?

I don’t have a problem with the use of “Rd”, that’s standard practice, but to contract the actual name of the road in this manner seems somewhat harsh to say the least… especially when you don’t bother to shorten “Close” to “Cl”…

It didn’t used to be like this; I only noticed the change a couple of days ago. Luckily it hasn’t broken the index; searching for “north road sw19” still finds it.

I wonder if someone at Google Maps will notice and change it back.
